Preventative Care

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride Varnish:

Fluoride varnish is a preventative treatment that can help prevent tooth decay, slow it down, or stop it from getting worse. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral present in water and foods, and it can strengthen tooth enamel. Fluoride varnish is formulated in such a way that the mixture solidifies and adheres to the enamel surface for an extended period of time, providing an effective delivery of high contents of fluoride to weakened tooth surfaces.

Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride (APF):
Applied at the end of most of children's regular cleaning visits, APF is another form of fluoride which strengthens the tooth enamel against decay. Fluoride treatments can best help prevent decay when accompanied with adequate brushing, flossing, regular dental care, and eating a healthy diet.

Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF):
Having been in use in other countries for decades, SDF became available in the US in the recent years as an effective medicament to control tooth decay, especially in children. With multiple applications on the lesions, it may provide a safe, non-invasive way to treat tooth decay without the need to drill and fill.

Oral Hygiene Instruction

The trained staff provide an in depth, one on one demonstration of oral hygiene instructions on brushing and flossing to children and parents.

Pit and Fissure Sealants

It's not always easy to keep back teeth (molars) free of food debris or plaque due to the rough and uneven tooth surfaces. These are the most common places cavity-causing bacteria hide. Pit and fissure sealant is a thin, protective coating that bonds to rough, chewing surfaces of molars, sealing them from food and plaque accumulation.

Sealants are no substitute for brushing and flossing but can help keep cavities from forming and may even stop the early stages of decay

Diet Consultations

Diet plays a crucial role in prevention of tooth decay. Food items high in sugar and starch will be more likely to cause tooth decay than foods high in fiber and protein. Each child's eating habits are reviewed to assess the risk for cavities, and the diet recommendations are discussed both with the child and the patent(s) in order to stress the imprtance of a healthy, balanced diet for the oral health as well as physical develoment and general wellbeing for a lifetime.

Restorative Care

Resin Composite

Resin composite is a tooth colored filling material which is safe and aesthetically pleasing. It has characteristics comparable to natural teeth in terms of strength and wear.

Porcelain Coated Crowns

An aesthetic alternative to the traditional stainless steel crowns.

Zirconia Crowns

Zirconia crowns have a highly aesthetic quality and an excellent durability. Made from zirconium, an inert titanium-like metal, zirconia is a white ceramic with an exceptional strength and bio-compatibility.

Sedation

Individualized Recommendations

The doctor will make individualized recommendations regarding the sedation options based on the physical, mental, emotional, medical, and dental needs of each child.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

The use of nitrous oxide and oxygen inhalation is a safe and effective technique for the management of children with mild anxiety.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Small children of young age may not be ready to cooperate during a dental procedure yet. A sedative is given orally to these children with limited treatment needs in order to temporarily decrease their alertness to calm their fear or resistance.

Deep Sedation

Deep sedation is for children with severe anxiety or extensive treatment needs. The sedating agents are administered intravenously to keep optimum sedation level and enable the entire necessary treatments to be done in a single visit.
